Eggs arrive in RRH!
The incubator and eggs have arrived in RRH this week. The children enjoyed looking and guessing what was in them. We are going to be looking closely for any changes during the rest of term, I wonder what might hatch out...

Reading raffle
As Reception are now attending assemblies in school we are joining in the reading raffle. This means that everytime your child reads at home they will get a raffle ticket to go in the raffle box. Then, during the merit assembly on Friday a winner is chosen out of the box for each class. Your child then gets to choose a brand new book! Our new favourite saying in RRH is "You have to be in it to win it!"

What is in the egg.
In Reception we are learning about Spring. Spring is when baby animals are born.
To learn more about new life we decided to look after and hatch some eggs.
First we got our incubator nice and warm ready for our eggs to arrive.
Our eggs arrived. They are all different colours and sizes.
We placed them carefully inside the incubator. We are allowed to look at the eggs but only teachers are allowed to touch.
We have made lots of guesses at what are in the eggs.
Some of us think there are chick's, dragons, dinosaurs or unicorns inside them. But we will have to wait for 21 days to find out.

RKB's Trip to Stanley Park
We found beautiful blossoms on the Cherry Blossom tree and new buds on the Pussy Willow.
The park keepers were cleaning the pond. They covered up the statues so they wouldn't get damaged.
We bought some pancakes to share with the swans and ducks. The swans were very gentle but the ducks were greedy.

RRH visit Stanley Park
After a week of glorious weather so far we were all looking forward to a sunny day at Stanley Park today. It wasn't as hot and sunny as we thought it was going to be, and a surprise visit from the fire brigade and a bird of prey made our 'Spring walk' even more exciting!
First we got on the minibuses and fastened our seat belts.
When we got to the park we got our clipboards and walked in pairs to look for signs of Spring. The first thing we saw were some flowers growing in the flower beds. The children were drawing pictures of the things they could see, hear, smell, and touch.
We heard the clock tower chiming so the children drew the clock in the 'hear' section of their page.
We saw Daffodil shoots, buds and flowers. Then because the grass had just been cut we could smell it.
As we walked towards the lake at Stanley park, we weren't expecting to see what we saw! Tree surgeons were chopping down trees and using a machine to turn it into woodchip!
That wasn't the only exciting thing though - there were 3 fire engines and firemen! They were testing out their hoses in the lake!
After all that excitement we walked on to look for more signs of Spring. We saw some ducks on the lake.
Then we noticed some buds growing on the branches of the trees. The children drew pictures of the buds and used their sound fingers to sound out the words.
We headed into the sensory garden where we could smell and touch the different plants.
Then we met an unlikely creature - a bird of prey out for a fly around the park!

There was just enough time left to have a photograph taken.
