Excited children...

In RRH we have been getting Christmassy this week. We've been writing Christmas present lists, decorating stockings and wrapping presents in our Santa's Grotto role play area.

Not to mention making special Christmas cards, the paintbrush really tickled on their feet but the children enjoyed making their footprints into Rudolf!

Thank you!

A great big thank you to all of you who came to watch our Nativity. We have really enjoyed perfecting it, and I think you'll agree that the children were fantastic. We were really proud of them and I don't think there were many dry eyes in the audience!

Nearly Nativity time!

The festive season is getting closer and closer and Reception are really looking forward to it! We can't wait to show everyone how hard we have been working on our Nativity play - I am sure everyone will enjoy it.  It is on Tuesday 17th December. We welcome everyone into school at 9am, with refreshments and raffle prizes until 9:30am. Character photographs will also be on sale before the performance. Can't wait to see you there.

Reception Team

Superhero hideout!

RRH have been busy doing activities to do with superheroes. We have made comic strips, designed our own superhero and written postcards to superheroes. We had a visit from the Hulk, who left us some hulk rock to search for in our classroom. We had to find all numbers up to 20 - it was quite tricky! We then made some secret messages using wax candles and watery paint.

All of the children have enjoyed dressing up as superheroes in our new role play area - Superhero hideout! They have been getting calls on the superhero hotline and having to act quickly to rescue people!

Suuuuuperman!

In Reception we are starting to think about Superheroes! In RRH we talked about what we'd like our super power to be if we had one. There were lots of suggestions, the most popular were to be able to turn people into ice, and to be able to fly. We danced to the 'Superman' song by Black Lace.

What a Star!

We are really excited in Reception as we are going to be in a show! Reception will be doing a Nativity play in December, towards the end of term. We have been busy learning songs (already!) and are becoming very excited about going on the stage for the first time! If your child has been given a speaking part in the play, it would be really helpful if you could practice the words at home so that they are confident to take part. We can't wait for it all to come together and I'm sure it'll be fantastic.

More information to follow.

Estimation station!

The children in RRH have been busy estimating in our 'estimation station' this week. They have enjoyed guessing how many objects in the jar and seeing who got it right. We have explained that it doesn't matter if your estimate is wrong, as long as it is a sensible guess.

There's a visitor in RRH...

RRH were visited by Izzy Wizzy today! Izzy set the children a challenge - to write a recipe for some 'Creepy Crawly Soup.' (It is her favourite apparently!)

The ingredients for the soup are: chopped up caterpillars, butterfly wings, rats teeth, snail shells, snakes and worms in blood! Yummmmmmy!

So the children got busy writing their recipes for Izzy Wizzy. They decided how many of each ingredient to put in the cauldron.

The children listened for which sounds they needed to write the words, then used a sound mat to help them.

Then it was time to put the ingredients together. Izzy Wizzy helped the children count their ingredients into the pot.

She read through their recipes and made sure each child put the correct amount of creepy crawlies in the cauldron.

Then Izzy Wizzy cooked the soup, it smelled delicious!

Some children were not keen to try the soup - others wanted seconds!

PE Kits

It has been a jam packed first day back at school today. The children did PE this morning, they didn't get changed today as there were some children who haven't brought a PE kit into school yet. All children will be getting changed next Tuesday 12th November for PE so please could you ensure your child has their kit in school.
Thank you,

Happy holidays!

Hope everyone has a fantastic time over the holidays and we look forward to seeing all of the children back on Tuesday 5th November!

Spooooooooky

There have been some strange things happening in RRH during the last day of school. Our dark den got infested by snakes and spiders, spooky stories and even a cauldron! A skeleton appeared on our classroom door and some children even spotted a bat! I think we might have a scary visitor paying us a visit when we come back after the holidays!

How relaxing!

RRH were very relaxed today. We did some peer massage, the children really enjoyed it. Sophaire said she was falling asleep!

Dark den fun!

We added a UV light to our dark den this week. The children enjoyed experimenting with it, making their clothes, stones and teeth glow up!
